Project Description

Base Station: Installation of a repeater on the same tower that is currently being used. The ISP-BS500AH was used along with four 90° antennas giving a total of 360° for subscription connections. It was also configured with virtual interfaces, routes, and NAT (Network Address Translator).

Subscribers: The ISP-CPE500A was used as subscriber clients under transparent client mode.

Phase One: Installing the Base Radio on a tower 22 meters high on top of a thirty-three-story building to obtain a better elevation advantage over the urban area of the city.

Phase Two: Replace the Subscribers in a timely and ordered fashion. First the installation and testing of the 5GHz subscribers to ensure the quality of the signal and then the removal of the old 2.4GHz subscribers. There were 29 clients in total.

Benefits:

  • The replacement of the equipment was done in a timely manner with an average down time of 3 mins.

  • The new equipment have features such as routing, NAT, and QoS that diminishes the use of additional equipment so old equipment that was in used in the older system can be reused for other purposes.

  • 100% connection improvement among the subscribers that before had interference problems.

  • Equipment and space improvements. It used to be two clients per access point in the Central Base Station, nowadays all the connections are made through one Central Base Station for all suscribers.

  • It is now less likely to see any issues of interference between the equipment, only one showed problems that worked in 5GHz.
